ABOUT.......

Since its establishment in 1997, Douglah Designs has emerged as a leading force in the Bay Area’s design and remodeling sector. With a dedicated team of over 25 professionals, featuring an in-house construction crew, skilled interior designers, and an impressive luxury products showroom, the company has earned a reputation for executing successful projects and ensuring a consistently high level of client satisfaction. Leila Douglah, Founder & Principal Designer, is the visionary behind Douglah Designs. With a dynamic background that spans three continents before calling Lafayette, California home in 1990, Leila has crafted a remarkable journey marked by passion, expertise, and a deep commitment to her craft. In 1997, she founded Douglah Designs in the heart of Lafayette, setting the stage for a remarkable career in the design and remodeling industry. As the driving force behind her company, Leila wears many hats, primarily serving as the principal designer. Her hands-on approach allows her to forge strong connections with clients while tirelessly fostering the growth and success of her business. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Leila’s true strength lies in her dedication to relationships – with clients, staff, and the broader community. Her CARE Culture is the foundation upon which Douglah Designs thrives. Leila holds prestigious qualifications as a Certified Kitchen & Bath Designer and a Certified Interior Designer, coupled with a General Contractor’s license and a formal education in Architecture. These credentials, combined with her unwavering commitment to excellence, make her a true luminary in the industry.  But Leila’s impact does not stop on the doorstep of her business. She is equally passionate about giving back to her community.

ABOUT.......

The ReUse People got its start in April 1993, with a building-materials drive to aid flood victims in Tijuana, Mexico. The flood relief drive, known as Project Valle Verde, was planned and coordinated with the mayors of Tijuana and San Diego, the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, the County Board of Supervisors, San Diego Gas and Electric Company, Waste Management, and the Building Industry Association. On April 23rd and 24th, contractors, other private companies, public agencies, and the citizens of San Diego donated over 400 tons of building materials valued at $1.2 million. Twenty-seven tractor trailers carrying this material crossed the border in an unprecedented demonstration of bi-national cooperation and assistance. The success of Project Valle Verde demonstrated the need for used building materials and the potential impact of this need on overused and overcommitted landfills. The ReUse People started as Building Materials Distributors in San Diego in 1993 and, due to a name conflict with an existing corporation, the name was soon changed to The ReUse People.

TED REIFF: Prior to founding The ReUse People in 1995, Ted was a managing partner with an investment banking firm that provided financial services to young technology companies. Now, in addition to guiding TRP’s National Expansion Program, he consults with private companies and government bodies on a variety of demolition and waste diversion projects. A graduate of Ohio State University and a licensed demolition contractor, Ted served three terms as Board President of I Love a Clean San Diego and is an advisor to Urban Habitat Chicago.

MATTHEW LARKIN: As Regional Manager, Matt regularly surveys residential and commercial properties for salvageable materials and creates detailed reports for appraisers. He prepares inventory reports for deconstruction and advocates the benefits of reuse to property owners, builders, and architects.  Previously, Matt worked for two freight companies, in Sales and as an Account Executive for a Bay Area Restoration Company. In addition, Matt was an Account Executive at a shipping company.  Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and certifications in leading-edge sales programs.
